Laboratory of Electrostatic Accelerators

    Our laboratory was built between 1968 and 1971. The smaller 1 million Volt generator was constructed first and using the experience started the creation of a 5 million Volt generator. Both accelerators were designed in ATOMKI and based on hungarian industry in 90%. The 1MV and the 5MV accelerators work in a pressure vessel in insulator gas, which gives the possibility of higher terminal voltages, comparing to earlier open air generators. From the beginning these accelerators are the basic instruments of our research infrastructure, serving more generations of researchers in more and more research topics. From 01. 07. 2009. our laboratory is a member of the  Accelerator Centre.
